The Food and Drug Administration in January banned the known carcinogen Red Dye No. 3 in our food supply – a huge victory for your family’s health!
Tens of thousands of Consumer Reports members pushed the FDA for years to ban this dye, which is made from petroleum and is used in some 3,000 food products. Its bright cherry-red color is often used in soda, candy and kids’ snacks, and is linked to cancer in lab animals, as well as hyperactivity and other neurobehavioral effects in children. The ban will go into effect in 2027.
Now, we need to use our power again to ban other chemical food dyes that have been linked to a range of health problems, especially in kids
